On snow action at Vail Resorts this February

Tuesday, 1 February 2011 11:09 AM

February is traditionally one of the best months of the year for ski and snowboarding conditions and the Vail Resorts chain is not disappointing this year, with Breckenridge breaking an 18-year record for snowfall.

The Colorado resort received 60 inches of snow in just one week recently, meaning that it has enjoyed its biggest weekly snowfall since 1993. Furthermore, Vail has had its fourth best ever year for snow conditions in the resort’s 48-year history.

This flurry of powder means it’s a great time to go exploring the 5,200 acres of skiable terrain at Vail, as part of the returning Vail Adventure Sessions. Led by a resort expert, these six-hour expeditions run daily throughout February and will reveal some hidden areas of this popular resort.

Alternatively, if you want to see what the resort looks like at night, then the Moonlight Snowshoe tour at Vail on February 15 is the perfect opportunity. This 90-minute trek allows you to see some of the resort’s nocturnal wildlife in their natural habitat.

Finally, female ski and snowboard enthusiasts can take advantage of two special events catered specifically for women and taught by women. Breckenridge will be hosting Women’s Ski Fest from February 9 to 13 and Women’s Snowboard Fest from February 24 to 26.
