Heading to the east coast, Okemo resort in Vermont opened yesterday, with two lifts and four runs, with top to bottom skiing expected to start soon. Early season day passes are available for as little as $39 (£25).

Finally, in the Catskill Mountains of New York state, Belleayre resort is due to open this weekend, with day passes available for just $25 (£16).
