Early season roundup of Americas ski resorts
The new skiing and snowboarding season in North America is well and truly underway, with many resorts expanding their terrain and several more opening his week, so Map The Gap is rounding up the best of the early season snow.
The popular Colorado resort of Breckenridge is expanding its terrain for the Thanksgiving weekend. Early season skiers and snowboarders can explore 1,500 acres of terrain, with many lifts up and running, including the Peak 8 to Peak 9 super chair.
Not to be outdone, nearby Vail has expanded to 2,700 acres as well as firing up four more lifts for the holiday weekend, taking the total number of lifts in operation to 15.
Heading to the east coast, Okemo resort in Vermont opened yesterday, with two lifts and four runs, with top to bottom skiing expected to start soon. Early season day passes are available for as little as $39 (£25).
Finally, in the Catskill Mountains of New York state, Belleayre resort is due to open this weekend, with day passes available for just $25 (£16).
