Young adventurer booked for polar survival talk

Wednesday, 23 February 2011 4:44 PM

Scottish students looking to explore the Arctic on their gap year can get a first-hand account of exactly what it’s like at the top of the world, as record-breaking polar explorer Alex Hibbert will be sharing his experiences in Dundee next week.

Despite being just 24 years old, Alex has completed the Longest Unsupported Polar Journey in History, crossing the ice caps of the North Pole in 150 days, facing temperatures as low as -40 degrees.

His journey covered a total distance of 1,374 miles, and he has returned to the North Pole twice since then, leading a team on his most recent expedition.

This talk at the University of Dundee on March 1 will also feature some of his award-winning photographs from some of the most remote places on earth.

Tickets for this event cost just £8, while students can get in for free, offering the perfect inspiration for any budding young explorer.
