Theme park in China to offer mini-skirt discount

Wednesday, 18 July 2012 5:26 PM

A popular theme park in China has decided to run a rather unusual promotion, to encourage more visitors this summer.

The ‘Love Miniskirts’ promotion offers discounted entry to customers – but only if they are female, and wearing a mini-skirt, according to the Shanghai Daily newspaper.

The Merryland Resort, near Guilin in southern China, are only handing out the 55 yuan discounted tickets if skirts are shorter than 38 centimetres.

The theme park, which is as big as Disneyland in the United States, is one of the region’s biggest attractions. As well as rides, it also features a golf course and a hotel.

According to Li Wenxing, deputy manager of the park, the promotion has been running since 2007 and has previously been very successful. However, he also admitted that it had attracted a little controversy.

Li Wenxing told the Shanghai Daily: ““We have been hearing negative comments about the campaign since we launched it, but the number of complaints are decreasing every year.”
