Amtrak offers 20% off long-distance rail travel

When you’re cruising around American from city to city, doesn’t it seem a shame to miss all the countryside in between? If so, then Amtrak can offer an alternative, as rail travel can be just as cheap a way to link up your US tour.

In the January sale, the long-distance rail provider is offering up to 20 per cent off tickets to major US cities, including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Seattle, Washington DC and New Orleans.

Reserve your tickets now and pay just $41 (£26) to travel between The Big Easy and Memphis as part of a Deep South tour. Alternatively, go cross-country at speeds of up to 150mph, with tickets from Chicago to Seattle available for just $122 (£79).

Stateside visitors can also cover the entire East Coast for under $100 with Orlando to New York train tickets available from $98 (£63).
